Still Working On It...
An introduction to Charish Reid musings
Hello! I’m romance novelist, Charish Reid, and I’m starting a Substack!
Since 2018, my husband and I have lived in Sweden, navigating life as two Americans who teach and write. I’ve got nine books under my belt, plus one awesome anthology I was blessed to take part in. You can learn more about those past publications down below…
The theme of this “newsletter” is Still Working on It, and yes, I’m very much in the long middle. I haven’t put anything out since October 2025, so I don’t have a ton of book news to report on. But I’m steadily working on what I’d like my agent (Saritza Hernandez) to sell to the masses. And while I’m pretty excited about these projects, there’s not a whole lot to say about them when they’re in the start-up phase.
Current WIPs
I can tell you a little bit of what I’m working on. I’m attempting to wrangle together two separate series in 2026:
Pandemonium City: A romantasy series with different magical beings falling in love, fated-mates style. (book 1 is complete)
The Four Pillars: A contemporary, dark-ish romance series about a prominent Black family who’s daughters help run their "wellness cult.”
What I’m currently reading:
Forbidden by Colleen Delaney: I’m already a huge fan of her wolf shifter series, Wolves of Luven, and now she’s combining her love of witches with wolves! She was lovely enough to give me an ARC of Forbidden, but it will be available to everyone on July 7th, 2026
So far, I LOVE IT. The concept of a wolf shifter begging a witch to lift the curse her ancestor put on his family—is making me so happy right now!
Future updates to look out for:
Named after the 2004 Modest Mouse album, this section will be for my special interest: Disaster & Horror film/TV/books. I've got plenty of recommendations for those who aren't too afraid to stare fear in the face...
I'll be sharing my experience of being an American living in Sweden, here! I realized I don't write enough about being an expat/immigrant, so it's time to give a critical look at the Land of Meatballs and Flat Pack Furniture.
If you’re not acquainted with my work, here’s my back list:

That’s all for now!
It’s taken me a really long time to start this because I’ve been focused on doing it perfectly, but life’s too short. I have readers out there who want to know what’s happening in my life, and I can’t always wait to make things pretty. Not everything is going to be a major book update, but I promise to make all updates interesting and fun!

Love this! Congrats on writing your first article, Charish!
I love this! Happy Writing!
